Cook Books

One of things that every kitchen seem to have when I was growing up were cook books. The most popular cook book back than was Betty Crocker which is a name almost any cook will still remember today. As society has changed so has cook books. Their was a time that cooks books were needed for all your cooking, but now that has changed alot with the Internet and the invention of the microwave. Cook books now are getting harder to find as less companies are making them and thus cooking in kitchens have curtailed alot. recipes in cook books used to run the range, but that has changed alot to. The cook books that are released today are much thinner and don't contain half the things the older cook books did.

I have wondered why has the cook book faded away from Americana like it has. One of the main reason is as a group families just don't sit around the table and have traditional dinners like they use to. I remember a time when everyone would sit around the table and talk about their day and what was going on in the world. Those days seem long gone and thus this has really hurt the family and cooking in general. A long time ago the kitchen was the place to be to smell the sweet smell of something great. Cook books would give you chances to try things that maybe you didn't know how to cook, but wanted to give it a try anyway's.

Those days seem so long ago. We have become a society where we probably go out to eat more than we eat at home anymore. It's a sad comment on our society, but pretty factual. betty Crocker cook books were the bible of cooking and now that isn't so anymore. It's a shame we have come this far, but the cook books are dying a very slow death and their isn't much we can do about it now. All we can do is watch it fade away like so many other things have in America. maybe one day it will come back, but I don't ever look for that to happen. I think we have gone to far to turn back to old recipies that use to taste so good.
